Install Proxmox VE 9.x on all new host servers. NETLAB+ is validated against Proxmox VE 9.2.3 and later.
Warning
Do not build a new host on Proxmox VE 8. Proxmox VE 8 reached end of life on 2026-08-31 and no longer receives Proxmox package or kernel updates.
Note
Already running a Proxmox VE 8.4.x cluster? You can upgrade it in place to Proxmox VE 9.x without reinstalling — see Upgrading Proxmox VE 8 to 9.

Management Console¶
The Proxmox VE (Virtual Environment) can be managed through any web browser by simply navigating to the assigned IP address on port 8006. This configuration requires a “management console” in order to configure the Proxmox Management Server, Host Servers, and virtual machines. The management console can be either a virtual machine on the management server or a physical host like a workstation or laptop. The management console will need to be on the same network as the Proxmox Management and Host Servers. As such, NDG strongly recommends this machine has a significant amount of storage, memory, and CPU power to successfully perform this task.
